Travels of my dogs
Author: Parry
Genre: Pictorial biography

― Milan Kundera
‘Travels of my dogs’ is a wonderful dedication to all the dog lovers indeed. The author’s unequivocal love for his dog, Ginger, has been portrayed beautifully. The book is divided into many components like biography, memoirs, poems, elegy, pictures and some facts. The news report about the conduct of dogs and their relationship with humans, take the wheels of this book forward. The author then describes the sequence of events that led to the entry of Ginger in his family.
The positive thing about this book is that it belongs to a completely different category of biographical literature. Seldom does anybody chose an animal or an object as the central theme of a book. The book is a quick read and is interesting. The language used, is very simple and touches one’s heart. The content forces the readers to relate it to their own experiences and understand the intensity of emotional turmoil the author would have gone through when he had lost his beloved pet.
The rhyme scheme followed in all the poems and elegies is ABBC. The text has been kept to the point. But the only thing that was probably not required to be included was the certificates and the Doctor’s prescriptions. The cover of the book could have been made better and more attractive.
Overall, a nice book with a subtle and unique theme.
