Bhagwad Gita for Millennials
Author: Bibek Debroy
Publisher: Bibek Debroy
Rating: 4/5
Life is mostly busy for the millennials. The work pressure and the inability to find adequate time to brush up the roots often misleads the mind into believing that one can make do without certain important life lessons. I am not a preacher and thus, I shall not preach whether one should read Bhagwad Gita or not. I would just write about the plus points and the negative points of the book in question.
Bhagwad Gita for Millennials is a handy self-help guide to understanding the scripture in an easy and fast way. The book offers translated versions of the life lessons and teachings that reiterate that success is all about doing the right thing by the right person and at the right time. Taking examples from Mahabharat and establishing their relevance in the present era, the author deftly brings forth the importance of exercising freedom of choice when it comes to following a particular faith or believing in a power. Not only does Mr Debroy preserve the real essence of the scripture by using cohesive translations that cater to the mindset of the young generation. The purpose of spreading awareness and importance of the spiritual journey is quite clear and I think, this version of Bhagwad Gita is successful to quite an extent in appealing to the masses. Emphasizing on the principles of humanity, dharma and karma, the book highlights the essence of being conscious in our dealings with others and self.
Overall, Bhagwad Gita for Millennials is an interesting attempt in recasting the scripture in such a way that would be liked by the youth. I am glad I got a chance to read this abridged version of Bhagwad Gita. The only negative point is that this book is not different from the various other books that are already there in the market.
Best wishes to the author!
