Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End
Author: Jeff Kinney
Publisher: Puffin Books
Jeff Kinney’s The Deep End is the 15th book in this series. Knowing that Greg never bores the readers with his jokes and hilarious comebacks, it would be right to say that when Heffleys go on this adventure, the unprecedented journey promises fun all along the way. I have not been a fan of Wimpy Kid series but I do like reading Greg’s narrative. Therefore, when this book was released, I had made up my mind to get this as I had to be with the Heffleys on their new adventure!
‘The Deep End’ begins when Greg’s family plans a holiday in their uncle’s RV. The problem is that none of them knows how to navigate their way and make it to their destination. Amidst the fear of bears, the confusion of parking the RV in the RV parks, the procedure to be followed in the maintenance of the RV and the persistent effort by Greg’s mother to ensure that the holiday turns out to be perfect in every sense (including a family picture that can act as proof), Heffleys’ journey turns out to be exhilarating and full of twists. Even though it sounds predictable yet the illustrations just add to the excitement.
Overall, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is enjoyable and short. I cannot say that I recommend this book owing to the language and the colloquial expressions used. But if parents allow the children to read under their supervision, this book will be devoured with full zest!
Best wishes to the author!
