Author: Ravi Subramanian
Publisher: Harper Collins Children’s Books
The SMS Detective Agency is back with a bang this time to solve the case of a missing cat. When a grand cricket match between India and Australia sets the wheels of the quaint town rolling, things turn topsy-turvy when a cat goes missing. While Chief Walia is unable to find the starting point of this mysterious disappearance, Akriti and Aditya come forward, along with their friend, Kabir, to take the reins of the matter into their hands. By following the subtle clues and disarrayed routines, these witty kids decipher who-dun-it. Saving Solan’s glory and giving a chance to the people to enjoy the sport without worrying about Pingu, the cat, these children, aka SMS Detective Agency, save Solan’s soul.
The first thing that struck me about this book was the illustrations that are colourful and apt. The comfortably-paced narrative takes the young readers on a joyride filled with mystery and adventure. I liked how the three detectives proved their mettle y their actions. I’m sure the young readers will enjoy reading this book; however, the simplicity of the language and character underdevelopment might not be liked by voracious readers.
Best wishes to the author!
