Book Review: Towards Her by Navnil Niraj
Towards Her
Author: Navnil Niraj
Publisher: InkQuills Publication
Rating: 3/5
It seldom happens that the romantic genre invites a story that has been written from the heart and defies the norms of cliched romance. Towards Her by Navnil Niraj is a heart-wrenching tale of love and its nuances. People do all sorts of things for love when in love. Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise when one gets fooled again and again in the name of love. What remains for the audience is the empathy that the characters of the story gather. A similar thing happens when you read Towards Her.
The story revolves around the lives of Neel and Jivika. While both the protagonists go through their share of joys and sorrows, their introspective journey is something to look forward to in this book. Caught in the whirlpool of showbiz, Neel is an ardent believer in fate and destiny. It is this belief that helps him sail through the turbulent times and accept life as it happens. Jivika, on the other hand, is a complicated and incomprehensible character. I couldn’t relate to her nor could I understand the rationality of her decisions. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the flow of the narrative. The drawback in the editing and fine-tuning of the language irked me. Probably, another round of proofreading would have helped this story pass the muster.
Overall, Towards Her does have an ambiguous title yet the climax has the power to leave you despondent. It didn’t work for me because of the elementary language and several mistakes that never stopped reappearing.
Best wishes to the author!
