#Review: My Imperfect Love by Niharika Jindal
My Imperfect Love
Author: Niharika Jindal
Publisher: Rupa Publications
Rating: 4/5
This book was like water for my parched heart. After so long, I came across an Indian writer who doesn’t shy away from expressing mushy feelings of love and yes, I truly enjoyed reading this one. The predictable end and sometimes, verbose descriptions didn’t quite impede my reading experience yet the wholesome feeling I got after finishing the climax was something!
My Imperfect Love is a rom-com in which Rhea, a candid beauty, crosses paths with Saahil, a recluse. Rhea speaks from the shoulder, so it doesn’t take much time to understand how she’s bowled over by Saahil’s dashing (outwardly) personality. In the beginning, while the readers might assume Saahil to be a mean-spirited misanthrope, the author deftly converts her protagonist into an affable and likeable round character. As the story progresses, it is noteworthy that the romance is slow-burn. Rhea’s and Saahil’s chemistry is the USP of the book. Their meaningful and respectful conversations are worth reading. The overall character development is plausible and the sidekicks like Simran also play their part very well. With a circular plot structure, My Imperfect Love doesn’t leave any loose thread. It satiates a romantic’s desire.
Overall, this is a must-read for all rom-com fans. The writing is good and seamless. The reading experience is cherishable.
Best wishes to the author!
