Book Review: Right Under Your Nose by R Giridharan
Right Under Your Nose
Author: R. Giridharan
Publisher: Rupa Publishers
Rating: 4/5
Belonging to one of my favourite genres, Right Under Your Nose is a compelling murder mystery that is based on the Science of Deduction. Right from conflict and pacing to the atmosphere and red herrings- everything keeps you hooked till the very end. The narrative is smooth and the author doesn’t waste any time in losing the attention of the readers.
Right Under Your Nose, as the name suggests, is about all the bad that happens in the broad daylight and right under the nose of the ones in power. The cops have no clue about the identity of the murderer, several trustworthy people change their colour and new friendships are formed during the quest for truth. It all triggers when the woman dies in an accident and soon after a scientist is killed. It doesn’t take the detective, Vijay, to join the dots together and understand that the killer has an ulterior motive behind all the killings. What comes as a surprise are the clues that mislead the readers into believing that the culprit is someone whom Vijay trusts. A superb combination of wit and intuition, Vijay and Padmini, the journalist, are like Arthur and Hercule Poirot. Their contribution to solving the mystery is a bonus and their conversations, too, are a delight to read.
Strong narrative, intriguing plot twists and commendable characters aid in the smooth execution of the plot. Overall, this is one of the most interesting thrillers I have read in 2021. Go for it.
Best wishes to the author!
