Book Review: Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure by Jeff Kinney
Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure
Author: Jeff Kinney
Genre: Children’s book
Publisher: Puffin Publishers
It seems like yesterday when I finished reading about Rowley’s friend, Greg and now I am reading about another pair of friends who exist in Rowley’s imagination. I am not a fan of Wimpy Kid series but I enjoy reading the books. Thus, reading this book was a beautiful experience. In ‘Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure’, Rowley embarks on a new adventure, that of writing a book that stars Roland as the hero and Garg as his friend. As childish as it might sound, Rowley’s determination to showcase Roland as a thoughtful and kind boy is hilarious.
The book has two parts: one where Rowley and Grey discuss the possibility and plausibility of the plot and the other, the plot. Hence, amidst a lot of confusion, debate and discussion, we end up meeting Roland and his team of messiahs who are on a quest to save the ‘Christmas’. Why Christmas, you might ask? Well, it’s not only Christmas, for Greg believes that Rowley and he can write more stories about different occasions! Comic relief, beautiful illustrations and the perfect combination of Rowley and Greg form the USP of this book.
As an adult, I definitely finished this book within an hour but children are going to take their own sweet time and enjoy each part at their own pace. Thank you, Jeff, for another addition to my Rowley-collection!
