#Review: She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica
I recently finished reading “She’s Not Sorry” by Mary Kubica, and I have to say, it was a thrilling ride from start to finish. Kubica does a fantastic job of creating an intense and gripping atmosphere that kept me hooked throughout. The story follows Meghan Michaels, a single mother and nurse, who becomes deeply entangled in the life of her comatose patient, Caitlin, after a mysterious and potentially suspicious fall.
The characters in this book are well-developed, particularly Meghan, who is portrayed as a dedicated yet overburdened mother. I could empathize with her struggle to balance her demanding job with her responsibilities at home. The relationship between Meghan and her teenage daughter is genuine and adds a heartfelt layer to the suspenseful narrative.
The plot is well-paced and full of twists and turns, which kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Kubica threw in another curveball, keeping the tension high. The unpredictability of the story was one of its strongest points, making it hard to put the book down.
However, I did find a few minor faults with the plot and pacing. At times, the story seemed to get bogged down with unnecessary details that slightly slowed the pace. There were moments where I felt that the focus on Meghan’s personal life took away from the main mystery, though it did help in building her character. Additionally, some of the twists felt a bit contrived, and I found myself questioning the plausibility of certain events.
Despite these minor issues, “She’s Not Sorry” is a highly engaging read. The suspense and tension are palpable, and the characters are relatable and well-crafted. Kubica’s writing style is clear and compelling, making it easy to get lost in the story. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers who enjoy a good twisty plot. Overall, while not perfect, “She’s Not Sorry” is a thrilling and entertaining read that showcases Mary Kubica’s talent for suspenseful storytelling.
