Freedom is not worth having if it does not involve freedom to make mistakes.
~Mahatma Gandhi
The Most Notorious Jailbreakers is a collection of 16 narratives that expose the escapades of some of the infamous convicts like Natwarlal, Mir Laik Ali, Phoolan Devi’s murderer, Shanker, Walcott Jr., Sao and many more. Most of the names are the ones that once got lost in the records and their stories never really reached people. But when you read this book, it is sure to startle you!
If you are an ardent fan of Prison Break, then you might find this book just the tip of the iceberg and you would end up Googling more details about the convicts. That’s where I thought that this book robbed me of the satisfaction I could have felt after reading such stories. Other than this, everything about the narrative, the stories, the different sections that have been introduced in various stories, the precision in writing and the selection of names is amazing! Abeer Kapoor is a journalist and his language deftly aims at informing the readers rather than trapping them within the web of verbose words. That’s were this book wins clearly.
Overall, The Most Notorious Jailbreakers is a very interesting book. It is quite different from the usual and thus, should definitely be tried.
Best wishes to the author!
