#Review: Let’s Celebrate Being Different by Lainey Dee
Let's Celebrate Being Different Author: Lainey Dee Publisher: ShieldCrest Publishing
This has been one of the most fantastic reads of this year! Let’s Celebrate Being Different is a children’s picture book about acceptance and self-worth. When Todd feels like a fish out of water amongst the several birds at the Friday Night Club, his Granny’s wisdom comes running to him. It’s his approval of himself and the confidence with which he replies that help him sail through that uncomfortable situation.
What’s interesting about this book is that it addresses an issue that forms the root cause of anxiety in the children of this generation. Right from body shaming to racist and sexist remarks can make anyone feel uncomfortable in their own skin. Through Todd, who is oddly beautiful, the author does a wonderful job of bringing forth the message that one should be able to make peace with their broken pieces or else they will, forever, indulge in the act of self-depreciation.
The story is simple and the colourful illustrations make the reading experience joyous. Yet there are some grammatical errors that irked me as a reader.
Overall, this is a good book!
Best wishes to the author!
