#Review: Nikyle- The Curious Crocodile
Nikyle: The Curious Crocodile
Author: Rea M. Mukhtyar and Shahena Zaveri
Publisher: Harper Collins (Children’s)
I adore Children’s books because of the colourful illustrations that add so much more meaning to the text. Right from the expressions to several onomatopoeic words that define the character’s state of mind, everything about these books is amazing. Nikyle: The Curious Crocodile is one such amazing book.
Niko is a curious young crocodile who never gets tired of asking questions. In fact, most often, his inquisitive nature hinders his bond with those he loves. He wants to know whether the egg came first or Clucky, whether the giraffe can see the foreign lands, whether the zebra has black on white or vice versa. And so much more. Surprisingly, these are those questions that I always wanted answers to. But never dared to ask for the fear of judgement.
That’s exactly the theme of this story: to ask your heart’s content. Through Niko, we get a peek into our mind that often wanders when left free!
A lively and engaging read, this book celebrates curiosity through Nikyle’s adventurous quest for answers. The writing is energetic and interactive, keeping young readers hooked, though a few sentence refinements could enhance flow. The vibrant, dynamic illustrations beautifully complement the journey, making underwater dives, desert treks, and treetop climbs come alive. With its heartwarming message about the magic of asking questions, this story is both fun and thought-provoking—a perfect pick for inquisitive young minds!
