#Review: ‘Carri-on’, Ruddy! by Rohan Chakravarty

‘Carri-on’, Ruddy!
Author: Rohan Chakravarty

I picked up Carry On, Ruddy! expecting a simple adventure story, but it quickly turned into a delightful read with far more heart than I had imagined. The book strikes a lovely balance between humour, adventure, and gentle life lessons, making it the kind of story that is easy to recommend to young readers.

Ruddy is an instantly likeable character. His curiosity and determination reminded me of the way children throw themselves into new experiences—sometimes without a plan, but always with enthusiasm. I found myself rooting for him throughout his journey, eager to see what challenge or surprise would come next. The pacing is brisk, so there is never a dull moment, and each chapter leaves you wanting to read just one more.

One of my favourite aspects of the book is its colourful comic display. These strips don’t merely decorate the pages; they add personality to the story and help bring the forest setting and its characters vividly to life. For emerging readers, these visuals make the experience even more engaging.

What I appreciated most was that the story never feels preachy. Its messages about courage, friendship, and perseverance emerge naturally through the characters’ actions. By the final page, I closed the book with a smile. Carry On, Ruddy! is a warm, entertaining adventure that encourages young readers to embrace curiosity and face life’s little obstacles with confidence.
